I have been reading about author branding, and building your author brand. Author brands are basically who is the author, and what will be marketed and presented to everyone else. I found useful articles on Linkedin. Particularly, I liked the one written by Michelle Rene Goodhew.

I learned many things about creating an author brand. However, since the issue with Facebook, I feel it caused confusion because before, I must start over. Well, it is like starting over because from this anonymous wolf, to what Tikaani Moon has turned into. It is a completely different route of where I was going with my brand. Now I would like to fill in what was missing, and introduce the new brand, which is the real me. In my hours of studying, I read how it is best to stick to one brand and theme. If switching things up, you must introduce and build the audience of what you are trying to sell now. I see how my abrupt brand change has also changed my audience, in which I did not wish for that. In that way also, Facebook has ruined everything.
I learned it is quite unbelievable how many authors do not consider themselves as a brand. However, authors are in fact brands. You are not only selling your book, but marketing yourself to a particular audience. It is what authors wish for others to see them as, their image. I discussed this in Absolute Write Water Cooler Forum, and they did not understand this at all. This makes me doubt their education in publication as they claim. They believed author branding is just a delusional image or reputation of oneself like a celebrity. However, I learned being an author gives you a particular reputation. How you conduct yourself online and everywhere reflects upon the person you are or how others see you. Personally, I am not too concerned and obsessed about how others view me. After Facebook, I came to the point where I have became nonchalant. Now I am open pretty much. Everyone knows my gender, ethnicity and pretty much what is needed to be known about me.
With compromises to my brand, I aim to maintain my original brand. Only that I am not anonymous. What is my author brand? Still, Tikaani Moon with my manga pen names, Ayumu and Ayumi. I am an author who chooses to represent the Indigenous/Native American people with my brand and logos. I involve myself in many of the Native American causes; this includes studying their culture and being concerned with their problems. The Wolf is an universal and spiritual symbol to me for the Native people. Many may view me to be one of a kind, since I am also an extreme human doll. However, I would like for others to see that I am business oriented and professional. My manager and I will soon become business owners anyway. My living doll career just make things a bit more interesting, quirky and whimsical.
